Plans so far for 2025

Doors open at 12.15pm, lunch will be served at 1pm

and the musical starts at 2.30pm

Saturday 6th December - Rochester Dickensian Festival & Parades

We will go by coach to Rochester where we can enjoy the very popular Dickensian Festival where many will be dressed in the appropriate attire. During the day there will be parades and carol singing as well as many seasonal stalls selling Mulled Wine, Festive Goodies and various other crafts. The day will end with a Candlelit Parade just before we leave to make our journey home.

The above outing was planned for 2024 but unfortunately Storm Darragh intervened and the event was cancelled by Medway Council for safety reasons - fingers crossed 2025 will go ahead.

A brief resume of outings in 2024

Monday 10th June - Kew Gardens

We had a very leisurely day at Kew Gardens where we visited the

various greenhouses and saw many exotic plants as well as the amazing

display of seasonal plants and flowers in the borders and beds.

There was also an impressive number of different species of trees

from all over the world, not forgetting the water gardens etc.

The cost of this trip which included the coach and entrance fee

was £30.00 for REASH members and £40.00 for their guests.

See report below from one of our contented members.

Report on Kew Gardens - by Pat Chaplin (Associate Member)

After a comfortable coach ride, we arrived to a mixture of cloud

and sunshine conditions which convinced us

to visit the outside projects first which are considerable.

The Rose Gardens were wonderful – colours and smells “to die for”.

The variety of old and new plants throughout the site were incredible.

The Water Lily House was stunning

and probably our favourite place of the day.

We did experience a downpour which didn’t last too long

but there were ample indoor places to visit

including the high-level walkway in the large palm house

which proved to be a great experience.

Thanks for another good day trip

On 2nd September we had a boat trip along the Grand Union Canal.

We met the boat in Hemel Hempstead and enjoyed a full afternoon

on the canal, going through locks and enjoying the scenery.

Some of the more energetic amongst us disembarked at each lock

to assist the boat volunteers with the opening and closing of the locks.

Afternoon Tea was served during the trip.

This outing proved to be very popular and was completely sold out.

A more detailed report will be in the November issue of News-Break.
